Meet our new ambassador!

Caroline Djupsjö is a professional wakeboarder who has been active for 10 years and in that time has won gold at the European championships no less than four times. She is strongly committed to women’s and girls’ equal rights in the sports world. Carro is our new ambassador and will help us to disseminate information about the projects that Unite 2 Learn implements in Tanzania to promote children’s rights. Here she tells more about herself and how she feels about her ambassadorship.

  1.       Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born and raised in Stockholm, but in the last six years I have travelled the world and competed and trained a lot. During my time as a professional wakeboarder, I have collected both medals at the world cup as well as unforgettable experiences. A year ago I suffered a serious knee injury that forced me to discover new spheres of life, so nowadays I study business economics at Stockholm University while I make my way back to the world elite.

  1. How come you are so committed to children’s rights?

During my travels I have encountered a variety of cultures, and I realise how fortunate I am to have been born in a country like Sweden. Things that I take for granted, such as being able to study, travel and work with what I am passionate about, are not that simple in other countries of the world. I think it is our responsibility – we who have won the lottery of life – to give something back to the global community and strive for a better world. Children are children, no matter where in the world they are born, and it is up to us adults to equip them with the best possible preconditions.

  1. What is the most important to you personally within Unite 2 Learn’s operations?

I think that all projects that Unite 2 Learn works with are important, but if I could only choose one, it would be the work of educating women and girls about menstruation and sanitary products. It is an issue that many other organisations overlook, and the fact that many women in the world stay home from school due to menstruation is so incredibly unnecessary.

  1. What do you hope to contribute as an ambassador for Unite 2 Learn?

I hope I can get more people to become aware of Unite 2 Learn and, more specifically, to sign up as members. It costs 100 SEK per year and it is easily done through the website. I am proud to be able to help spread awareness about these issues. Together we will change the world.
